Stephanie Fowler MA, CCC-SLP
Welcome to my little corner of the world of Speech Pathology!
My name is Stephanie Fowler and I was born and raised in Wyoming and Colorado. After receiving my bachelors degree in Communication Disorders and Speech Sciences, my husband and I spent 10 years in Katy, Texas. During that time, I worked as a teacher in the preschool setting as well as in elementary classrooms for children with special needs. While in Texas, I also completed my Masters degree and we began our family, which now includes two sweet teenage boys who keep us hopping.
In 2011 we moved to Utah, returning to the wonderful seasons, mountains and family that we missed while we were living down south.
For the past 20 years I have worked as a certified Speech Pathologist. I have worked with children to enhance their communication skills at home, in the preschool setting, and in playgroups. A portion of this time was working in the Early Intervention field (birth-3 years old). I have also worked with elementary, middle and high school aged children. I love walking into someone's life and trying to find practical ways to improve the quality of their daily interactions. This brings me joy.
My goal in working with children is to help children improve communication skills so they are successful in school, in social interactions and so that communication is a positive experience.

Personal Philosophy
We live in a fast-paced society. Many doctors encourage parents to 'wait and see' if children aren't reaching speech and language goals on time. If you and your child are comfortable with this approach, please continue to assess your child and seek help if the concern grows.
Though this method works for some families, it often backfires. In my experience, children who do not have a reliable method of communication with everyone in their environment (family, neighbors, teachers, peers, etc) often express frustration regularly, begin to show signs of diminishing self-confidence and may reteat from social interactions.
By teaching children functional strategies, working with families to become part of the therapy solution, and reinforcing with positive interactions, children are likely to experience faster progress and more communicative success.
Today children learn to speak, use computers, read and write at early ages. It is therefore ideal to give our children every tool possible to help them be successful. For many children this starts with basic communication skills.
If you have any concerns with your child's communication, please call and we can discuss this further.
